Our goal is to assist the development of a democratic, rule-of-law state through the promotion and protection of human rights.

The Center for the Protection of Human Rights "Kylym Shamy" is a non-profit organization operating in the field of human rights and freedoms, founded in 2003.

In its activities, Kylym Shamy is committed to the principles of universality and indivisibility of human rights, impartiality and independence, solidarity and practical support for victims, as well as equality and mutual respect.

The center's activities are aimed at protecting human rights in specific cases, public investigations of violations of human rights by state bodies, analyzing the human rights situation, participating in the rule-making process, promoting human rights ideas and legal education, monitoring the observance of human rights and freedoms.

Kylym Shamy is currently working in six areas of human rights: freedom from torture, freedom of peaceful assembly, the rights of military personnel, the right to access environmental information, human rights without discrimination, human rights in the fight against extremism and terrorism.

Kylym Shamy is currently a member of the Coalition for the Prevention of Torture in Central Asia and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). In addition, the center's activities include providing advice and legal assistance, negotiating and mediating between the parties, protecting individuals from discrimination, taking into account minorities in public policy, advocacy and lobbying.
